How To: Put on Hockey Equipment
By hoif | May 16, 2010
This is a video I made for an assignment that had to be a tutorial. I figured everyone should know how to put on the hockey equipment. I squint because I forgot my glasses and I am looking at a tiny screen.

@hattrick1972 Fair enough, I go shoulder pads then jersey. I usually don’t have a problem getting my jersey on, which is a fairly large jers. One of the guys on our team wears a goalie jers, but he’s 6’3″ 300, with some fairly soft hands and a killer slap/snap shot. My shoulder pad also have 4 straps but it would seem like a hassle to do it your way. Just saying. I’m quite drunk at the moment as well.

@heavyjay420. Well, the jersey has to go over the shoulder pads. I put pads inside the jersey. The pads I have only have four straps. One for each arm to secure them and on on each side of the ribs. It’s easy to reach up under the jersey and secure them. It’s just a pain to wrestle the jersey over the pads, even with an oversized jersey.

@hattrick1972 You put your shoulder pads inside your jersey? How do you do up the straps?

Thanks for the tutorial! My son just decided to start playing hockey and I have NO IDEA how to get him all decked out. You rock–next week I think I’ll be able to get it without begging other parents for assistance. Thanks again!

They should cover as much of your shins as possible while remaining as comfortable as possible. Personally, mine go down to just above the tongue of the skate, but it’s really a matter of preference.
May 17th, 2010 at 6:30 am
That’s a good question, I think as long as your shin guards don’t negatively impact your skating or cause discomfort you should be okay.

Where are shin guards appose to come down to? The top of the boot of the skate? My shins only covers half of the tongue of the ice skates.

Do you have to wear a complete body performace wear? Couldn’t you just wear you clothes under the pads? What do most people do?
