What do hockey players say to each other during a fight or scrum?

By hoif | May 24, 2009

hockey
Giles Corey asked:

You can always see hockey player’s mouths moving when the refs are holding them back, but what exactly do hockey players smack talk about when teams get into a scrum? Do they brag about who’s winning or make fun of a bad play the other player had or talk about their mothers? Just wondering thanks

It depends on the situation. For example, if someone boarded another player, then the teammate of the one was boarded would say something like “you better not do that again”, but in a less child-friendly way. Or, if they are just fighting for the sake of gaining some momentum, they might just say “good fight” or something like that.

They will say anything to get under the other guys skin. They ain’t dancing, so most likely the words are insulting.

They are professionals for the most part. The emotional fights have some statements about each the mom’s but here is a somewhat older one from George Laraque. Very funny. Make sure you sound is up as the 45 second mark.
