Can you practice off ice stickhandling with a roller hockey stick?

Question by freshtilldeathh: Can you practice off ice stickhandling with a roller hockey stick?
I wouldn’t want to ruin an ice hockey stick on the concrete and such, so would practicing with a roller hockey stick be better? Also would it be the same for ICE hockey stick handling. If that makes sense.
Thanks guys I appreciate it!

If your stick is a two-piece you could remove the blade and replace it with a plastic blade (around the shaft) or a wood blade (in the shaft). If you’re not familiar with the manoeuvre I recommend getting it done at a pro shop by an employee. Yes, a roller hockey stick will do, however it won’t be the same if you play on concrete or cement obviously, and also depending if you choose a hard ball, a tennis ball, a foam puck, etc. So if you have some budget (expensive option) I’d suggest getting a regular puck and an artificial ice plate (alternative: plexiglas) so you can have the same feel of puck-handling.

Yes, and use a tennis ball. It is bouncy so it will improve your reflexes/puck handling.

I would use a street hockey stick.
Get one of these if you aren’t really picky about the weight of the puck being absolutely perfect.
