Question by ?some random girl?: How long did it take you to learn how to ice skate?
I have been ice skating, like 5 times over the past 3 years, including 3 times this year. When I started I couldn’t skate at all, now I am somewhat better, I can move forward without falling down, but I can’t go fast and gracefully like the other skaters, and I still fall down sometimes. I have never roller-skated before. Did it take you that long to learn?
no lessons, just bumping it out by myself or with a friend

this depends on whether u took lessons or not. when i started, i went once a week for lessons, and i went to the second level within 2 months. maybe you can have someone teach you some tricks, and then you’ll do better.

It kind of came to me naturally, but I was skating away from the wall the first time I went. The biggest improvement in my skating came when I got my own skates. I was much more confident and comfortable. Both can go a long way.

nope I knew how to skate since the first time i got on the ice, but i started skating on the side while holding on first and then i got my confidence and just went of skating and there so yeah, but it may be cuz i have really good balance and roller skate a lot in the summer. just believe u can do it and make sure u have good balance and practice no roller blades during the summer.
hope i helped and good luck

1 day only if your asking how to walk on the ice. that is impossible to ice skate with out falling.

I don’t know, I learned when I was around 3 or 4 too. I do remember skating around a lake holding onto a stool though, and one day deciding I didn’t need to anymore. No idea how long that was from the time I first stepped out on the ice though.

it took me about 20 minutes to get comfortable on the ice and step away from the boards, and be able to glide on my own. i decided to take lessons after that because i had so much fun. i remember that on the very first lesson my coach said we skipped like two levels because we were able to get through the snow plow stop and the 1 foot glide. I think the important part is to not be scared in the beginnning, because everyone falls at some point so there’s nothing to be scared or embarrassed about.
