We purchased this product in hopes that our 10 and 9 year olds could begin tying their own skates. Well…it sort of works. The design is a bit awkward and difficult for small hands. It is metal and thin and therefore not very friendly to young, delicate hands. I would not recommend this product for smaller kids. Find something with a plastic handle or wait until they have the strength to tie the skates without such aids.

This does not work well because the angle of the hook is not sufficient to hold the laces–even when pulling at the correct angle. It keeps slipping off.
